Do you agree to bann torrents and P2P applications?

On one hand torrents and p2p applications are allowing users to download their needs in high speed and large volume, looks great. Equally on the other hand, these applications are consuming heavy bandwidth and will become almost impossible. What do you think, should they be banned?
